Make Your Own Homemade Baby Wipes

Making your own diaper wipes is a great way to save money!  Not only will you love how economical they are but they also work better then the store brands.

First rule of thumb, only use a top quality paper towel such as Bounty.  They will not hold up if you do not buy a good paper towel.  Make sure that the paper towels you buy also are the plain white.  We do not want any dye going onto your babies bum.

List of items needed:

Paper towels
Container that will fit a half roll of paper towels (cut in half lengthwise)
Baby Lotion
Baby Soap
Water (something to heat water in)

Steps To Make Your Own Diaper Wipes

1)
Cut the paper towel roll in half (cut the length in half) to make two rolls of paper towels and then take the cardboard middle out of each half.  This can be a little tricky, loosen the glue around each end of the cardboard and keep at it, the cardboard will come out.

2)  Heat 1 1/2 to 2 cups water to a boil. (use less or more depending on your paper towel roll size and preference of wetness)

3)  Add 1 Tb baby soap and 1 Tb baby lotion to the water.  Stir to dissolve.

I use all natural homemade soap and lotion so that we know what is going on our babies bottoms.

4)  Pour water into your container that will be holding your wipes.  Put the half paper towel roll cut side down into the water.  Place the cover on your container.

5)  Once water is absorbed into paper towels turn container over for about 10 minutes.  Water will be absorbed throughout paper towels.

6)  Open container and pull out the very middle towel on the roll.  You now have homemade baby wipes!!!

***Tip***
I like to use the Bounty select a size paper towels.  They are the perfect size so that you don't feel like you are wasting half of the wipe.

***Tip***
I found a pack of plastic containers at Wal-Mart (probably any discount store) that fit the paper towel rolls perfectly.

***Tip***
For taking wipes with in the diaper bag you can use a zip lock baggie or I have found that the wipe container that comes with the diaper bags works just as well.  The wipes do not dry out too quickly.

I hope this article, How To Make Your Own Homemade Baby Wipes, has been helpful and money saving for you!!!
