Thick Pizza Crust Recipe

I got this recipe from my good friend Holly.  She is an amazing cook and I am so happy she shared this with me.  This will make 2 thick pizza crusts.  When I make it for our family I make the whole recipe and then use half for a pizza crust and half for bread sticks.  Yummy!

Holly's Pizza Crust

Makes 2 Thick Crusts
2 Tb yeast
2/3 cup warm water
2 tsp sugar
Sprinkle yeast and sugar over warm water.  Let stand about 10 minutes.
2 cups cold water
3 Tb olive oil
2 Tb sugar
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp salt
1 Tb Italian seasoning
6 cups flour

In large bowl mix cold water, oil, sugar, garlic, salt, italian seasoning and one cup of flour.  Beat until well mixed; add yeast mixture.  Add flour one cup at a time until a soft dough forms.  Knead on counter until a soft springy dough forms (not dry or stiff).  Let rise in a greased bowl covered for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 450.  Pre bake 5-8 minutes.

Add toppings and bake pizza until crust is brown on edges and sounds hollow when tapped.  Melt 2 Tb butter & 1/2 tsp garlic salt.  Spoon on edges of crust after taken out of oven.
